Life Sciences Technologies Sustainability | Corning

Corning is paving the way for cleaner air, cleaner water, and healthier generations to come. For Corning’s Life Sciences business segments this means bringing science to life sustainably, from research to drug delivery.

Overview

For us, sustainability means leveraging our heritage of innovation in new ways as we challenge ourselves to make our products, operations, and supply chains even more environmentally friendly. It means amplifying Corning’s social impact goals through a diverse and inclusive workforce and a commitment to community engagement.

We have built our sustainability program on three pillars:

Environmental Stewardship. We are on a journey to meet or exceed corporate goals for emissions, energy and water consumption, and waste diversion.

Social Responsibility. We believe sustainability is a team sport. Our employees, future employees, suppliers, and customers all have a role to play. Together, we can magnify positive impacts in our communities around the globe.

Products and Packaging. Innovation is in our DNA. We are leveraging our innovative mindset to investigate and implement product and packaging materials and designs that will result in a greener future.

Our People

Our People

Corning is committed to serving our communities through organizing company volunteering events and supporting individual volunteering efforts. During 2021, we did not let COVID shutdowns get in our way – employees volunteered over 750 hours with more than 25 community organizations.

The Corning Foundation’s Dollars for Doers program provides cash grants to eligible US-based nonprofit organizations where Corning employees volunteer.

Corning Life Sciences’ European Distribution Center in Amsterdam was awarded an A++ energy label in 2016, which puts the site in the top 5% of office buildings in the Netherlands. A geothermal source, rather than natural gas, provides heating and cooling, and a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) array installed in 2019 provides over 60% of the site’s energy needs.
