SMF-28® Ultra Optical Fiber
SMF-28® Ultra optical fiber was the first in the market to combine the benefit of industry-leading attenuation and improved macrobend performance, all in one fiber. This premium single-mode fiber is designed for regional, long-haul, metro, access, mobile, and fiber to the home (FTTH) applications, along with being fully backward compatible with the installed base of legacy single-mode fibers.
SMF-28 Ultra fiber is ITU-T Recommendation G.652.D compliant and also exceeds the requirements of the ITU-T G.657.A1 standard. SMF-28 Ultra fiber has a 9.2 micron mode field diameter (MFD) and offers industry-leading attenuation, macrobend loss, and polarized mode dispersion (PMD).
The bend performance of SMF-28 Ultra fiber is able to improve duct utilization, enable smaller enclosures, and provide a solid foundation for new network deployments as well as upgrades to existing networks.
SMF-28® Ultra 200 Optical Fiber
In 2015, we introduced the industry’s first 200-micron fiber which provides low loss, macrobend performance, and a 9.2 micron MFD. SMF-28 Ultra 200 fiber helps solve one of the world’s toughest network challenges – increasing fiber count without taking up more space by providing all the benefits of SMF-28 Ultra fiber in a reduced diameter.
The newest addition to our SMF-28 Ultra fiber portfolio, SMF-28 Ultra 200 fiber enables the design of smaller, lighter, fully backwards compatible high-fiber, high-density cables. By exceeding the standards requirements of ITU-T G.657.A1 and G.652.D, SMF-28 Ultra 200 fiber ensures full backwards compatibility with other fiber types that satisfy these requirements.
With the problem of MFD compatibility eliminated, network operators have the freedom to deploy fiber-rich, 200-micron cables to address capacity and congestion – with the proven performance of SMF-28 Ultra fiber.
