Course Descriptions

Technology changes at the speed of light. Corning was there at the beginning and is committed to keeping you up to date on the latest innovations in the fiber optic industry. See the Light® seminars offer free three- to six-hour training sessions on a variety of fiber optic topics.

These seminars are taught by Corning experts. Our instructors bring real world experience and application to the training sessions. We update our content for seminars annually and offer new topics each year. Upon completion, the student is emailed  a certificate of completion. BICSI credits may apply. Courses are also recognized by FOA as credits toward FOA certifications. These free seminars are an excellent resource for instructors, installers, contractors, designers, and others who are seeking to continue their education.

UniCam® (No-Epoxy, No-Polish Connector) Technology Seminar

This training session is focused on the engineering principles behind how the UniCam, no- epoxy, no- polish connector, and tools used during the termination process work. Our research strongly suggests that this knowledge inherently creates a more proficient technician because understanding “why” and “how” provides the basis for trouble shooting and problem resolution. This interactive presentation includes both lecture and hands-on demonstrations. All concepts are presented on a dry-erase board in simple terms that expand throughout the session.

Attendees should bring their Corning UniCam kit if they have one. If not, one will be provided for use during the training.

Duration: 3.5 hours

Target Audience: Contractors/installers looking for hands-on termination training.

Fiber Deep Network for Today’s Enterprise

How can you deliver a reliable 4th Utility connected experience so you can face the demands of a modern network? In this training, we will discuss how optical network solutions provide a future-ready platform that can help support in-building applications like Wi-Fi, cellular, cameras, A/V, lighting and more. We will also walk through an Intelligent Building case study that used remote powering, software defined networking, cellular and optical network solutions to provide an easy to manage, scalable, and cost-effective common infrastructure that saved more than 25% over traditional copper networks. Also, in this seminar, we will more deeply explore remote powering and cellular solutions in the enterprise. These solutions are helping to deliver a wireless-first environment, something that more businesses are exploring as a connectivity solution. You will learn about several deployments and the benefits those companies realized with a fiber- and power-deep network.
