In today’s hospitality landscape, fast, reliable connectivity isn’t a luxury — it’s an expectation.
Hyatt Studios, a new extended-stay brand designed for both short and long-term guests, set out with the intention to offer the comforts of home by implementing homey conveniences including kitchenettes with full-sized fridges, stovetop burners, grab-and-go breakfast, a self-service marketplace, and most importantly, an all-fiber network. From the beginning, reliable connectivity was identified as a must-have feature of the new properties. It was clear to the team that a robust and reliable fiber network would be a critical offering to create an enjoyable stay for guests—whether they plan to stay for three days or three months.
The Vision Behind Hyatt Studios Brand Connectivity: Creating a New Standard
Reliable and adaptable connectivity is paramount to guests in the digital age. Guests expect ease of access, high-speed internet, the ability to work, connect with loved ones, and stream their favorite shows and movies just like they would at home. From the layout of the rooms to the way guests connect to the internet, a goal of this network design was to make every onsite digital interaction seamless and uniform.
To bring the vision to life, Corning deployed fiber connectivity throughout the building. Fiber delivers data over longer distances which is a significant advantage compared to copper which is limited in both distance and bandwidth. By designing with fiber from the ground up, the Hyatt Studio brand is differentiating themselves from competitors, while also building a future-ready infrastructure that won’t require updates and is easy to maintain and adapt to future needs.
Why Fiber is the Right Fit for Hospitality
In a hotel, every inch of space is valuable. By deploying a single technology closet and running fiber all the way into the guest rooms, Hyatt Studios hotels are designed to optimize functional space and limit complexity and eliminate the need for multiple closets on the guest floors.
Unlike legacy solutions that rely on multiple telecom closets and short-distance copper runs, fiber allows hotels to centralize infrastructure and minimize hardware. That design flexibility creates room for other hotel amenities and simplifies construction. In addition, it reduces costs over time and enables faster deployment and ease of maintenance.
Beyond guest rooms that come equipped with network needs, fiber can support self-checkout kiosks, cashless point-of-sale systems, emergency notification sites, and other digital amenities throughout the building – creating an enhanced experience through every step of the stay.
A Future-Flexible Solution
The Hyatt Studios team didn’t just want a solution that fits today’s network needs — they wanted a solution that is flexible for long-term scalability. Ten years ago, no one expected the need for gigabit speeds in a hotel room. During my time in this sector, I’ve seen many hotels struggle to keep up with rapidly increasing customer expectations when it comes to technology.
So today, it’s crucial for hotels to stay ahead of the curve by building infrastructure to support evolving technologies — and fiber has that capability. With a 25-year warranty and a capability horizon of up to 100 years, this infrastructure was built to scale with shifting guest expectations and emerging technology.
Collaborating to Bring Fiber to the Room
At Corning, we are more than a fiber provider — we see ourselves as collaborators from start to finish. In this case, we were invited into the fold early on, and consulted throughout design, coordination, and installation to ensure smooth deployment and long-term success. The end result was a turnkey solution that helped the Hyatt Studios brand offer simplified construction, maximized performance, and a flexible, standardized approach across the brand portfolio.
Through this collaboration, Hyatt and Corning aren’t just meeting today’s connectivity needs, we’re setting a new precedent for what hospitality should look like in the future. Fiber-to-the-room allows Hyatt Studios guests to enjoy a first-in-class digital experience, while simultaneously reducing costs, space, and energy consumption. And as this standard comes to life across the brand, it has the potential to reshape expectations across the industry — no matter what the future holds.
