CORNING, N.Y. | Corning Incorporated | March 07, 2022

Corning to highlight solutions for every segment of the network at the 2022 Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition. The latest innovations include a data center solution that shortens installation time, and cables and connectors well suited for rural environments.

DETAILS: Corning Incorporated will showcase high-density solutions for every corner of the network, including its newest preterminated products that save labor, lower total costs, and speed deployment, at the 2022 Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition (OFC) March 8-10 in San Diego.

"Corning plays a vital role in driving the continued expansion of connectivity. Our engineers have designed our latest innovations to meet what network operators need right now: flexible, future-ready solutions that accelerate deployment, reduce the need for skilled labor, and minimize costs," said Dr. Claudio Mazzali, senior vice president of technology, Corning Optical Communications. "With demands on networks continuing to grow, the innovations we'll be showcasing at OFC are especially timely – from the cloud to the access network to fiber-rich wireless deployments, all the way to fiber-to-the-chip."

Key innovations include:

·       EDGE™ Rapid Connect, a solution for data centers that helps hyperscale operators interconnect multiple data centers up to 70% faster than existing solutions by eliminating field splicing – saving labor and reducing total costs. The newest solutions include preterminated trunks that are rated for both indoor and outdoor use, providing enhanced deployment flexibility.

·       Evolv Terminals with Pushlok Technology, designed to speed fiber deployment for all types of communications networks. Pushlok connectors are half the size of existing offerings, connecting to terminals that are up to four times smaller – reducing infrastructure costs associated with placing the terminals and enabling 5G-ready connectivity. Corning’s latest Evolv solutions include terminals designed to enable the fiber-lean architectures often used in rural deployments.

·       Everon Network Solutions deliver data and power to the far reaches of the network, making it flexible and scalable as building needs evolve. Corning’s Everon portfolio includes traditional optical cabling for campus and building backbones, as well as indoor 5G cellular solutions and composite connectivity for applications like Wi-Fi, audio-visual components, building management systems, and more. Enterprises can save up to 30% in capital and operating expenses by pushing fiber and power deep into the building, creating a future-ready network for all applications.

·       The latest innovations in Corning’s RocketRibbon and MiniXtend® cable portfolios. The RocketRibbon offerings include the world’s first armored cables with Corning’s FastAccess technology – offering ease of installation and innovative ribbon protection in compact designs that offer up to twice as much fiber per duct as existing solutions. The MiniXtend XD cable portfolio provides installers with greater flexibility in tighter spaces without sacrificing fiber density or deployment speed. Among the innovations being highlighted are cables that are especially suited to rural deployments, including a 72-fiber version of MiniXtend XD cable.

·       Corning’s latest fiber innovations, including SMF-28® Contour fiber, which offers an industry-first combination of superior bendability, compatibility with other fibers, and low signal loss – all designed for cost-effective deployment of future-ready networks. Corning will also highlight SMF-28® ULL fiber with advanced bend, designed for the most challenging long-haul and high-data-rate networks.

·       The newest solutions for original equipment manufacturers, showcasing Corning’s industry-leading expertise in bringing high-density optical connectivity directly to the chip.

Corning’s experts will offer insights on technology and industry trends during workshops throughout the conference. Topics include co-packaged optics and the next decade of optical fiber for long-haul networks.
