A Middle East–based sovereign AI and NeoCloud infrastructure provider undertook an ambitious initiative to rapidly deploy a large-scale GPU environment supporting advanced AI training and inference workloads. Operating within a highly regulated environment, the customer required an infrastructure foundation that could scale quickly, remain flexible, and support future technology generations without introducing unnecessary complexity or redesign risk.

With more than 2,500 GPUs deployed within an approximately three-month window from design to deployment, speed and precision were critical. The network architecture needed to support immediate operational demands while remaining ready for continued growth as AI workloads and customer requirements evolved.

The Challenge: Scaling AI Networks Without Compromise

As deployment timelines compressed and AI workloads increased, network complexity emerged as a primary challenge, particularly across the server-to-leaf and spine-to-leaf layers of the data center fabric. The customer required a cabling architecture capable of supporting high-speed port breakouts, including:

  • 400G ports broken out into 4×100G connections at the server-to-leaf layer
  • 800G ports broken out into 2×400G connections at the spine-to-leaf layer

These requirements needed to be met without slowing deployment, without sacrificing port density, and without constraining future upgrades to higher speeds or next-generation GPUs. Any need for redesign would have introduced delays and risked slowing AI service rollout and customer onboarding.

To address these challenges, Corning delivered a high-density structured cabling solution built for AI network architectures. Leveraging EDGE8® connectivity and port breakout modules, the solution simplified deployment while providing the flexibility required to adapt to evolving network speeds and architectures. 

Corning’s engagement extended beyond components to include engineering led services, ensuring the solution aligned with both immediate deployment needs and long-term scalability goals.
Services provided included:

  • Engineering design and architecture development
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) creation
  • Deployment ready designs aligned with phased scaling strategies

This approach enabled rapid execution while establishing a cabling foundation designed to support future expansion without repeated redesigns.

Within a highly compressed deployment window, the project delivered clear, measurable outcomes:

  • Successful deployment of a >2,500 GPU AI network within approximately three months
  • Enablement of 400G and 800G port breakout architectures without requiring network redesign
  • Improved readiness for rapid customer onboarding and workload expansion
  • Establishment of a future-ready structured cabling foundation capable of supporting evolving AI infrastructure demands
