Incredibly Tough - Sarah Reinertsen

“I want to inspire people. But more than that I want to empower them. I really want them to see the ability that exists in themselves.” — Sarah Reinertsen

Sarah Reinertsen was born with a bone-growth disorder (proximal femoral focal deficiency). At age seven, Sarah courageously accepted the decision to have her affected left leg amputated above the knee. The procedure would promise more mobility with prostheses. These were the cards she was dealt. How she played them is a true testimony to the human spirit. Some 35 years later, Sarah is a nationally and internationally recognized triathlete. She has held world records, earned medals, completed numerous marathons and conquered the fabled Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Who does that? Spend the briefest of moments with Sarah and it all starts to make sense. Hers is much less a story of overcoming the obvious obstacles. Instead, Sarah embodies an infectious lust for life. Fitness is her outlet. It’s how she expresses herself. How she challenges herself. And how she gives of herself. “Being a little girl that didn’t have her left leg…it made me so appreciative of my body. So, for however how long I have, I’m going to use my body to the max every day that I’m here.”

When she’s not out training, tracking her every move with the Acer Leap Ware smartwatch featuring tough Corning® Gorilla® Glass SR+, you’ll find Sarah speaking at events, motivating captive audiences and conducting fitness clinics for amputees. “I take very seriously my work I do as a role model for other kids, because that’s what made the difference in my own life.” Of course, Sarah insists on leading by example. And what an example she has set.

Keeping up with Sarah — The Acer Leap Ware smartwatch, featuring Corning® Gorilla® Glass SR+

At first glance, the Acer Leap Ware is extraordinarily simple and stylish by design. Its circular frame of polished stainless steel houses a 1.6-inch (42mm) face featuring Corning® Gorilla® Glass SR+. Such simplicity belies its durability. Gorilla Glass SR+ combines the legendary toughness, optical clarity and touch sensitivity of Gorilla Glass with superior scratch resistance approaching that of luxury watch cover materials. Add to that IPX7 water resistance and the Acer Leap Ware is ready to go wherever your fitness takes you. Or, as Sarah put it, “I really need a device that’s going to hold up to the wear and tear of all these different sports I’m doing. I’m demanding of it all the time. I need something that keeps up with me.” iOS- and Android-compatible through the Liquid Life™ app, Leap Ware boasts an array of sensors with advanced algorithms that can monitor heart rate, stamina, stress/fatigue levels, and exposure to ultraviolet rays. As for the Liquid Life™ app, it is packed with motivational tools, an ability to compete and track with friends, and even “rewards” that can be used in the Liquid Life Market. Whether you’re just getting started, or have years into your fitness regime, the Acer Leap Ware is a worthy workout partner
