Global leader in glass and ceramic science to celebrate 50th anniversary with event showcasing products and engaging key partners
SINGAPORE – Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW), one of the world’s leading innovators in glass, ceramic, and materials science, will celebrate its 50th anniversary of operations in Singapore this week. For five decades, Corning has been at the forefront of innovation in Singapore, forging deep partnerships with businesses in the region and significantly contributing to the country’s vibrant economic and technology landscape.
“Corning’s deep commitment to innovation and strong partnerships have been critical to advancing data communications, life sciences, and advanced semiconductor optics in Singapore and around the world,” said Eric Musser, Corning President and Chief Operating Officer. “We’re excited to continue advancing technological capabilities and sustainability initiatives in the region.”
To commemorate the 50-year milestone, the company is hosting Corning Technology Day on Sept. 6. Attendees will experience Corning innovations making an impact around the world first hand.
Corning’s vital role in Singapore
Corning’s impact extends to multiple industries and has helped Singapore become a leading technology hub:
· Corning supports Singapore’s role as an international telecommunications gateway, helping multi-tenant data centers drive the digital economy and advance artificial intelligence in Southeast Asia.
· Many leading global banks deploy Corning’s fiber-optic cable systems for their mission-critical data center networks. Similarly, large venues, such as Marina Bay Sands and Singapore Sports Hub, enhance connectivity with Corning’s distributed antenna and cable systems.
· Major global brands continue to integrate Corning® Gorilla® Glass, renowned for its durability, into consumer and industrial electronics.
· Corning has helped enhance Singapore’s semiconductor value chain, a critical driver of regional growth. Across Asia, the company’s world-class technologies are integrated into industry-leading optical assemblies, photolithography systems, metrology equipment, and advanced packaging.
Innovating for a healthier, more sustainable future
Corning is committed to giving back to the communities where it operates. For example, the company launched the Life Science Accelerator Lab with Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) in March 2023. The lab helps create cost-effective models for cultured meat production, supporting Singapore’s goal of sustainably meeting 30% of the country’s nutritional needs within the next five years.
The lab also supports Southeast Asian partners in cell and gene therapies, 3D cell-culture production, and high-throughput screening, advancing biomanufacturing capabilities in Asia.
“This year, we celebrate 50 years of success in Singapore. Corning’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and partnership with leading industry players remains steadfast,” said Adrian Chan, General Manager, Southeast Asia. “We’re excited about our future in Singapore as we support the country’s growth as a technology hub, develop local talent, and bring more Corning to the region.”
