Precision Glass Solutions team volunteers in Taiwan

PGS team volunteers in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan— Corning’s Precision Glass Solutions (PGS) leadership team took time to give back to the local community while meeting in Taipei recently. The team spent a Saturday volunteering at Taipei Happy Mount, a non-profit organization that supports those with physical and mental disabilities.

“PGS is focused on expanding business opportunities in Taiwan, but we also recognize the importance of giving back to the people who live there,” said Dave Velasquez, Division Vice President of Corning Precision Glass Solutions. “Our time at Happy Mount served as a touching reminder that time and attention are some of the most valuable gifts we can give.”

Taipei Happy Mount is a more-than 80-year-old non-profit facility dedicated to providing care and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Rehabilitation services include art and music therapy, as well as outdoor activities. The goal is to do more than provide a safe place to live, but enrich residents’ lives with engagement and education they could not access otherwise.

“Our team was moved by the challenges this facility faces not only to keep its doors open, but to innovate and find new tools to engage residents,” Velasquez said.

The PGS team is committing to a multi-year relationship to support Taipei Happy Mount. This will involve annual monetary donations, voluntary employee contributions, and visits by PGS staff for hands-on help at the facility.

“We appreciate the PGS team’s support for Happy Mount and the effort to represent Corning values around the world,” said Daniel Tseng, president of Corning Display Technologies in Taiwan. “We are committed to supporting the communities that our company touches.”
