Production Materials Engineer

I started working at Corning in July 2013 with a three-month summer internship in the engineering department. During this period, I supported the tasks carried out by the engineering department, including the development of documentation, measurements and analsis of relevant process and product parameters. I have also participated in several optimization projects, the most important of which was the technology tests for recovering high-quality material from technological waste.

After the internship, I was given the opportunity to continue working for Corning as part of an internship program. During the same period, I started the second semester of full-time master's studies at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Łódź University of Technology. Thanks to the cooperation between Corning and the Faculty, I was able to complete my internship for the first six months under the "Mobile Semester," developing a technological project which was assessed to obtain my second semester of studies.

As part of the project, I developed a novel method for testing the temperature of the cable coatings in extrusion processes. This project met with great recognition and interest in the company, which opened the way for further cooperation, this time in the field of research for my master's thesis. After completing my annual internship, in November 2014, I was employed as a Junior Production Engineer responsible for the process on which I conducted my research. My duties included supervision over technical issues related to the production process of fiber optic cable components, including seven technological lines.

During this period, I gained experience in projects aimed at optimizing costs. improving quality, and improving production efficiency. In November of 2015, I was promoted to the position of production engineer. The studies for my master's thesis were successful and contributed to a significant improvement of the technological process, which in January 2016 allowed me to obtain the title of master engineer, and in May of 2017 the prize "The best graduate of the Łódź University of Technology in 2016."

In July of 2017, I became the regional engineer for production materials. In this position, my most important tasks included the selection, testing and implementation of new materials for the production of fiberoptic cables. In October of 2017, I began doctoral studies at the Faculty of Chemistry, Technical University of Łódź, initiating research in the field of new material technologies for implementation by Corning.

I strongly encourage you to participate in the internship and apprenticeship program at Corning. The company develops very dynamically and uses modern technologies, so I am sure that everyone will find something interesting in the tasks being carried out. Corning strongly supports the development of its employees, providing a wide package of training for employees, co-financing the costs of courses or postgraduate studies, and often gives the opportunity to work in flexible hours for people who want to continue their employment without resigning from full-time studies.
