Supervisor of Health & Safety
I started as an intern in the Corning safety department at the beginning of the fifth year of my studies. From the very beginning, I was treated as an equal employee – I got my own responsibilities and work. I could easily divide the time between work and study because the company adjusted my job based on my current load at the university.
During the internship, I had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge by participating in the corporate health and safety audit. Immediately after the internship, I was hired as a junior health and safety specialist. While working in this position, I was fully responsible for one of the production departments. Working in a team of six health and safety specialists, I was always able to consult on decisions with my colleagues. Subsequently, I was named a senior specialist in occupational health and safety.
Along with the change of positions, the scope of my responsibilities expanded. I had more opportunities to cooperate with colleagues from Corning's foreign locations and suppliers, participating in, among other things, conferences and receptions on specific machinery and equipment. While working as a health and safety specialist, I was included in selected training courses that allowed me to work on my soft skills.
As part of the company's development and the construction of a new factory, there was a a need for a health and safety manager, which is the role I sit in now. Since January of 2018, I have been the head of the health and safety department at the Corning eastern plant in Stryków and I manage a group of health and safety specialists.
