Manager of the Engineering Department

My adventure with Corning began with monthly internships during the holidays in my fourth year of study. As a trainee, I was very well received by the whole team who supported me and helped me learn the main principles of the plant's operation. After that, I was admitted to the maintenance department for an eight-month internship. I did not have to give up my studies because the company allowed me to work part-time.

At that time, I was running a project related to technical documentation which allowed me to supplement my previous knowledge gained at the university with experience and practice. I learned to work in a team and to organize my time with classes effectively. I got to know the basics of Lean theory and saw how it was implemented.

My next step was to take the position of a junior process engineer, where I was responsible for process optimization through the implementation of new ideas and technologies, always keeping safety and quality in mind. Then, as a project coordinator, I was involved in the creation and development of a tool for controlling, standardizing, and reporting project activities carried out in the company.

In August of 2013, I took on new challenges as the deputy head of the maintenance department, and a year later I became the head of the engineering department. These positions allowed me to develop soft skills: working in a team, correctly determining the importance of tasks, and building and enforcing strategies. This job gave me as much satisfaction as solving technical problems. Now, I am the manager of the engineering department. I translate global goals into local challenges. I care about the development of the company and set the directions for people working with me.

I encourage you to take part in apprenticeship and internship programs – my career path is a perfect example of why they are well worth doing.
