Senior PQA Engineer EMEA

My career at Corning started in September 2011 as a working student in the field of plant engineering. From the beginning, I noticed the pleasant and open working atmosphere. I could always ask questions and received support from every person I spoke to. As a student, I especially appreciated the flexibility of time that enabled me to combine my studies and professional experience. Even early in my time at Corning, I was already able to take on some interesting tasks within the Corning internal quality program PQA (Product Quality Architecture).

After completing my master's degree, I became a trainee in August 2014 and got to know the daily work of the engineers. In addition to supporting various projects, I was assigned my first PQA project for the automation line. I had my first international assignment in Turkey and, in cooperation with IT and the team in Poland, I introduced monitors to the machines in production, where picture catalogs for the currently running production process are available. During my student and trainee days, I was able to make several contacts on the plant and international level, which I still enjoy coming back to today.

In August 2015, I took on the role of process engineer. Here, I supported the implementation of the picture catalogs for the products from Denmark (Vordingborg). I led my largest project up to that point, which included topics from the fields of automation, PQA, and smart factory. I started in the planning phase and was responsible for the project implementation as well as commissioning and handing it over to the production team. I also obtained the first PQA Gold certification (Level 4) in the EMEA region. As a manufacturing representative, I was the contact person for the product line management of copper closures.

In September 2016, I became a supervisor for process engineering. Here, I continued the projects from my previous role and got personnel responsibility for three more employees. I visited Corning's in-house training to enter a leadership position and was able to personally develop myself. In addition, I traveled to the USA for the first time and was able to present the innovative approaches from Hagen there.

Since September 2017, I have worked as a PQA Engineer in EMEA. In this new role, I support the plants in EMEA in implementing the internal quality certification on request. In collaboration with the EMEA plants, I am responsible for ensuring that the plants reach their PQA goals. I work on an international team consisting of two other PQA Engineers for the NAFTA region and can thus gain intercultural experience. In addition, I am currently training to become a PQA Green Belt Trainer and have been certified as an Internal Assessor for Quality Assurance.

I was supported by my superiors at every turn, and could develop myself personally and professionally. I have been able to complete trainings like the DMAIC Green and Black Belt and I am in a constant learning process. The versatility of work at Corning and my continuous development are very important to me.
