During its showcase at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Corning highlighted its AutoGrade™ Gorilla Glass with Corning® ColdForm™ Technology, now in use by automotive industry partners.

Corning’s booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center featured the GAC Aion LX, which boasts a first-of-its-kind curved dual-display module and the largest interior display system with anti-reflective and decorative cover glass technologies designed into a vehicle today, according to Mike Kunigonis, vice president and general manager, Automotive Glass Solutions. 

“The Aion LX’s curved interior display is an outstanding application of Corning’s patented ColdForm Technology, which is enabling a more immersive experience for drivers by providing the smartphone-like touch sensitivity they’re accustomed to,” said Kunigonis.

Corning announces multiple industry collaborations for its patented ColdForm Technology

Corning announced four industry collaborations to expand automotive interior design possibilities using Corning’s ColdForm Technology. Corning is working with LG Electronics, Visteon Corporation, VIA optronics, and BOE to bring more economical and high-quality display modules into the market.

“Today’s most innovative automotive interior designs require sophisticated technologies, materials, and manufacturing systems,” said Kunigonis. “We’re excited that our advanced technical glass and innovative shaping processes will help deliver the most economical and highest quality curved display systems.”

OtterBox and Corning showcase screen protector with EPA-registered antimicrobial technology

OtterBox’s new Amplify Glass Antimicrobial screen protector, manufactured by Corning, was unveiled at CES and will go on sale soon via otterbox.com. The screens, according to OtterBox CEO Jim Parke, are now “formulated with an antimicrobial agent to protect the surface of the screen protector, so you don’t have to give phone grime a second thought.”

Corning® Gorilla® Glass featured on new devices

Over 11 devices featuring Gorilla Glass were announced during CES, including the Dell XPS 13 and the HP Elite Dragonfly. Amongst the laptops and convertibles highlighted, four devices feature the latest iteration of toughness with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6, such as NEC’s LAVIE VEGA and Acer’s ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro.
