Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today it will showcase an expanded range of precision glass substrates and supporting technologies for the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries at Semicon Taiwan, one of the world’s largest trade shows for the microelectronics industry, to be held Sept. 18 to 20.
New products and demos on display in Corning’s booth this year include:
- Corning Advanced Packaging Carriers, which are optimized to reduce customers’ in-process warp by up to 40%. This enhanced line of glass carrier wafers is optimized for fan-out processes, a type of cutting-edge semiconductor packaging that enables smaller, faster chips for consumer electronics, automobiles, and other connected devices. Launched this year to an outstanding reception, the product is already being tested in more than 20 customer projects.
- Optical glass wafers, including FEOL-compatible HPFS® fused silica, which is ideal for precise 3D sensing. HPFS is a top-selling fused silica wafer for diffractive optical elements in mobile phones.
- A working prototype of a waveguide-based augmented reality (AR) headset featuring Corning’s ultra-flat, high-refractive index glass. Corning was first to market with this type of precision glass ideally suited for immersive AR devices.
Additionally, Rustom Desai, commercial director, Precision Glass Solutions, will lead the Strategic Material Conference on Sept. 19 with a presentation: “Innovative Glass- Based Solutions for Semiconductor & Consumer Electronics Applications.”
“Corning continues to see an increase in the demand for highly precise glass substrates in the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries,” Desai said. Our presence at this important industry event demonstrates our commitment to providing customized, glass-based solutions to our customers in these rapidly evolving industries.
“PGS products are in more than 300 million electronic devices to date, and we’re excited to work with our customers to significantly increase that number,” he said.
