Samsung and Corning Partner to Provide ASMS with Complete Technology Solution

The Alternative School for Math and Science (ASMS) announced today that it is preparing for a major new digital learning initiative to be launched at the start of the 2014-2015 school year. With the integration of a full Samsung School digital learning solution, ASMS will be able to bring its interactive, collaborative learning model to a whole new level of excellence.

Samsung and Corning Incorporated, who share a long-standing partnership in the development of display technologies, are partnering to provide the most advanced technology for today’s education. Included in the full technology package are Samsung Galaxy tablets for all faculty and students, interactive whiteboard displays for each classroom, wireless printers, and the Samsung School software enabling real-time instruction and interaction. Installation of the system is currently underway, with full implementation planned for September 2014.

“In seeing the highly innovative educational program offered by ASMS, we found clear alignment with Samsung’s commitment to dynamic learning environments that raise student engagement, foster collaboration and enable personalized learning,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “We look forward to seeing the Samsung School technology platform being fully utilized to further advance student learning at ASMS.”

“We are very excited about the extraordinary learning opportunities that are being made possible for our students, families and educators through this generous contribution from Samsung and Corning,” said Kim Frock, ASMS’s administrative head of school. “Integrating these state-of-the art digital tools into our program will help our students develop the critical skills necessary for success in an increasingly connected world.”
“Corning has a long history of investment in education in Corning, N.Y. and other communities throughout its global network of operations,” said James B. Flaws, Corning’s vice chairman and chief financial officer. “We are particularly pleased to have Samsung partner with us in delivering on our shared vision of world-leading educational experiences for students here in the Corning community.”
