Mark A. Beck was appointed executive vice president, Corning Environmental Technologies and Life Sciences Business Group in August 2012. In this role, Beck leads the company’s clean-air solutions business while providing management oversight for Corning’s drug-discovery technologies division.
Beck joined Corning in 1996 and has held positions in new business development, manufacturing strategy, marketing, product line management and business management.
He has worked in multiple business units including Energy, Display Technologies and Specialty Materials. In September 2006, he was elected vice president and general manager, Corning Life Sciences, and in July 2009, he was appointed senior vice president, Corning Life Sciences. In April 2011, he was appointed senior vice president, Corning Environmental Technologies. Beck also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dow Corning Corporation.
Prior to joining Corning, Beck was involved in several start-up ventures. In each case, as founder or co-founder, he led the new business from initial concept to successful commercial operations.
Beck received his undergraduate degree from Pacific University where he studied business administration and Japanese language. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
