Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) today announced that it has received a 2014 Masters of Quality Supplier Award from Daimler Trucks North America for excellence in supplying diesel particulate filters and ceramic substrates used in emissions-control systems. The awards program recognized Corning as a top quality supplier of components and services for Freightliner and Western Star truck brands.

To earn the award, Corning demonstrated outstanding performance in quality, delivery, technology and cost. Corning’s advanced substrates and filters help Daimler meet stringent emissions regulations, while also achieving excellent vehicle and engine performance.

“The Masters of Quality award winners represent the ‘best of the best’ among our suppliers and their work is crucial to our enduring success,” said Roger Nielsen, chief operating officer of Daimler Trucks North America, in a published statement.

This year marked the 28th anniversary of Daimler’s annual awards.

“We are honored to be recognized by Daimler as an outstanding supplier,” said Hal Nelson, vice president and general manager, Corning Environmental Technologies. “This award reflects the commitment of all of our employees to exceed customer expectations. We remain dedicated to continuously improving our service to Daimler and delivering advanced technology for Daimler’s future emissions-control systems.”

Corning is a leading supplier of advanced cellular ceramic substrates and particulate filters for the world's major manufacturers of gasoline and diesel engines. In the early 1970s, the company invented the economical, high-performance, cellular ceramic substrate that became the standard for catalytic converters worldwide. In 1978, Corning developed the cellular ceramic particulate filter to remove soot from diesel emissions.

Today, Corning continues to build on its 42-year legacy of advancing mobile emissions solutions to help meet demanding emissions requirements and enable cleaner, healthier air worldwide.  For more information on Corning Environmental Technologies, visit: http://www.corning.com/worldwide/en/products/environmental-technologies.html
