Corning Helps Launch New High-Tech School

Corning has secured a major victory in its effort to connect students and industry in the region with the creation of a high-tech learning opportunity called "P-TECH." A new Pathways in Technology Early College High School opens this fall after years of work on the part of a team put together by the company.

The new school marks a major milestone in Corning's ongoing efforts to build a local workforce equipped with high-tech manufacturing skills.

For the 2016-17 school year, 40 ninth-grade students will be the first to benefit from instruction that allows them to earn a high school diploma and an associate's degree in up to six years at no cost to their families. Upon graduation, they get a "first-in-line" opportunity for job placements with P-TECH corporate mentors, including Corning.
