Corning Incorporated  (NYSE:GLW) today announced the availability of its Thunderbolt^™ Optical Cables by Corning online through Best Buy (www.bestbuy.com) in four lengths, spanning 5.5, 10, 30 and 60 meters.

The first all-optical fiber cables for the Thunderbolt community, Thunderbolt Optical Cables by Corning enable users to manage the demands of high-bandwidth audio and video production equipment, digital photography and high-performance computing applications over longer distances. The electrically isolated, noise-reducing cables are up to 50 percent thinner and up to 80 percent lighter than comparable copper cables, with substantially increased strength and flexibility.

Thunderbolt Optical Cables by Corning have successfully undergone a rigorous certification process to provide users with an optimal experience. The cables enable connectivity between self-powered devices at 10 Gb/s bi-directional, dual channel with Thunderbolt or 20 Gb/s bi-directional, when used with a Thunderbolt 2 host and Thunderbolt 2 devices.

Additionally, the cables are hot swappable and feature an ultra-slim, “zero-bend” radius that allows users to easily route the cables.
