Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Development Officer

John Zhang was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Development Officer in May 2025. In this role, Zhang is responsible for developing the company’s growth strategy, from partnerships to business-portfolio decisions. Zhang also has end-to-end responsibility for the Display, Mobile Consumer Electronics (MCE), and Life Sciences Market-Access Platforms (MAPs), while driving Corning’s growth across Asia.

Zhang joined Corning in 2008 in Corning, New York, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Business Development. In 2010, Zhang was appointed to an expanded role, leading the Strategy and Corporate Development organization of Corning International. In this role, he established the formation of Samsung Corning Advanced Glass with Samsung and oversaw Corning’s acquisition of Samsung Corning Precision Materials.

In 2014, Zhang was named Deputy General Manager, Corning Display Technologies. In 2020, he was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager, Corning Display, which includes Corning Display Technologies and Corning Precision Materials.

Prior to joining Corning, Zhang held managerial roles at Xerox Corporation, both at its operating units and at the corporate headquarters.

Zhang holds bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics, a master’s degree in computer science, and an MBA from the University of Rochester. He is a member of the university’s Global Leadership Council.
