Celebrating World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development

Corning Celebrates World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development

In 2019, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proclaimed March 4 as World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. This was based on a proposal from the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). WED is an opportunity to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world’s engineers for a better, sustainable world. According to the WED site, ‘the day offers an opportunity to highlight engineers and engineering’s achievements in our modern world and improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are central to modern life and for sustainable development.’
