HICKORY, N.C. | Corning Incorporated | января 24, 2012

Corning Optical Communications LLC, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will highlight innovation in data center solutions at the Green Data Center Conference & Exposition, Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, in San Diego.

In its interactive exhibit, Corning Optical Communications will display its Pretium EDGE® Solutions for data center applications. Designed and developed with extensive end-user input, Pretium EDGE Solutions address the need for ease-of-use, scalability, termination density and technology future-proofing, while offering excellent total cost of ownership.

Enabled by Corning® ClearCurve® bend-insensitive 50/125 µm multimode fiber, Pretium EDGE Solutions allow for up to:
• 35 percent faster deployment;
• 25 percent faster moves, adds and changes (MACs);
• 100 percent more density than traditional preterminated solutions.

Corning's Plug & Play™ Universal Systems for data centers will also be on display with Pretium EDGE Solutions at the exposition.

Corning will also display the Pretium EDGE Reverse Polarity Uniboot, an LC connector that provides quick and easy polarity management in the field with no tooling requirements. The Reverse Polarity Uniboot’s clamshell design prevents fibers from being exposed during the polarity flip. In addition, the connector has a color-coded visual reference allowing quick recognition when a fiber has been reversed. Finally, the connector features a removable trigger design that allows for 10 different colored triggers that can be used for segmenting network fabrics.

On Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., Doug Coleman, manager of technology and standards for Corning Optical Communications, will present “Optical Connectivity Enables the Green Data Center.” This presentation will provide background on how and why green data center initiatives can reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiencies and minimize environmental effects. Optical connectivity enhances green data center installations by utilizing high-port-density electronics with very low power and cooling requirements, in addition to providing premier pathway and space performance.
