Corning Pharmaceutical Technologies is collaborating with trusted industry suppliers including Gerresheimer AG, SGD Pharma, and Nipro PharmaPackaging  to manufacture and distribute their respective pharmaceutical glass vials with Corning’s proprietary, low-friction, Velocity vial coating technology, expanding access and improving ease of adoption for customers around the world. 

This access network enables licensed companies across the industry to integrate Corning’s Velocity coating technology within their own vial manufacturing processes and product portfolios. This model expands access to a wide range of pharmaceutical and biotech companies and localizes supply chains, reducing lead times, and in many cases, reducing the regulatory burden of adoption that comes with switching packaging suppliers.  

Corning’s Velocity external coating technology is a packaging innovation that improves filling line efficiency by 20-50%, increasing productivity and lowering the customer’s total cost of ownership. Adopting Velocity technology supports pharmaceutical manufacturers’ quality standards with a demonstrated 3x reduction in crack generation as well as reduction in glass particulates by up to 96%, decreasing the likelihood of cosmetic rejects and reducing the risk of vial damage, product loss, and recalls.
