Wu Dan

Manufacturing Director, Greater China and India

"We will furnish more opportunities and challenges to them and inspire them to grow!"

I’m Wu Dan, responsible for manufacturing in Greater China and India region. I’m in this newly created role since June. Before June, I spent 19 years in Environmental Technologies China, where I was a quality engineer, a project manager, a production manager, an operations manager, a plant manager, a general manager, and a regional operations director.

Over the past 20 years, Corning had provided me – as a female employee – the opportunity to achieve my full potential by building cross-manufacturing, commercial and start-up experiences. With so much excitement in organization growth and capacity, I never feel exhausted or bored by working for Corning. I cannot image achieving the same with other companies.

I’m so grateful that I work for such an organization that values diversity and inclusion. My supervisors and mentors always provide me strong support in growing myself and my team. When I was in the general manager role, more than half of my leadership team members are female that guide plant engineering, supply chain, IT, HR, Finance, and commercial operations!  I learnt from them on visionary thinking, outstanding execution, consistent collaboration and relentless communication.

Corning is growing rapidly in China. Currently we have 18 manufacturing facilities in various locations in China with 5,000 employees. We have a lot of talented female employees working in manufacturing!  We will furnish more opportunities and challenges to them and inspire them to grow!  We will continue building our UP2 momentum, initiative to sponsor the women of Corning Management Group, to foster a grass roots engagement of female leaders connecting with other female employees to help support their growth and development into the next generation of female leaders at Corning. I believe we will get there!
