Detection of antibodies to infectious agents such as the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 is routinely performed using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Numerous serological test kits for COVID-19 have been developed and received emergency use authorization (EUA) from regulatory agencies in the past few months. Many of these test kits utilize ELISA assays to identify the presence of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus in blood samples.
