Corning Introduces an “A Day Made of Glass” Educational Program

Corning Introduces an “A Day Made of Glass”

Corning’s “A Day Made of Glass” video took YouTube by storm in early 2011. Described by many as one of the most-watched corporate videos of all time, the video captured the imaginations of millions with Corning’s vision for the future of glass technologies. This overwhelming response led to a full series of videos from Corning and many inquiries about the featured technologies.

Educators and students alike submitted a large percentage of the questions that came in to Corning. As a result, Corning teamed up with the award-winning curriculum specialists at Young Minds Inspired (YMI) to create an educational program to teach students about the role glass could play in technologies of the future, and to supplement the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) curriculum.

Geared toward elementary and middle school students, the program includes three activity sheets, which give students the opportunity to watch the “A Day Made of Glass” video series and express their  understanding of and ideas for the role of glass in a broad range of applications and innovations. The activities also encourage students to consider their role in advancing the future of technology.

The activity sheets are free to everyone, and can be accessed at www.ymiclassroom.com/corning for educational use.
