Corning India Takes A Step Forward Towards A Greener Environment

Corning India Takes A Step Forward Towards A Greener Environment

Corning India is supporting Grow-Trees.com, an NGO holistically committed towards conservation of forests, in its innovative program that enables customers to plant trees and dedicate them to others.

For select Corning Life Sciences product purchases, Grow-Trees.com will plant trees on a customer’s behalf on the community lands at the periphery of Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary, situated in Rajasthan. Customers can track and see the growth of the trees planted through an online link and will also receive an eCertificate sent to the customer.

The initiative will make a positive difference in the lives of people directly or indirectly dependent on forests by preserving forests and its inhabitants and engaging in responsible sustainable practices. It will address the criticality of climate change’s impact on earth while simultaneously reverse the deforestation process, land encroachments, poaching, and over usage of groundwater.

“Corning believes in leading environment and community engagement while continuing to invest in business growth. Supporting this initiative, we are excited to contribute and make a significant investment in our collective future – paving the way for the health and well-being of people and communities.” said Sudhir Pillai, Managing Director, Corning India.

“Our customers work hard in their labs to solve some of the toughest problems that mankind faces. The trees that will be planted will also help us fight some of major health risks people face today,” he added.

This eco-friendly approach will propel afforestation and create value through the plantation of trees in the community grounds of Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary. For the purpose of this project, native trees such as Bamboo, Sal, Ber etc will be planted in the sanctuary.

“We are grateful to Corning India for supporting us and providing an immeasurable boost to this initiative. Together, we can work towards inspiring our generation to plant more trees which will drive positive outcomes for people, climate, and nature”, said Mr. Bikrant Tiwary, CEO, Grow-Trees.com.

Corning strives every day to make a positive difference in the world by supporting our people and communities, preserving our environment, and engaging in responsible business and manufacturing processes. Over the past five years, our employees in Pune, along with government officials and school children, have planted more than 4,000 trees around the Corning facility.
