Employee Vibrant Community Grant: Heritage Village

Heritage Village, a living museum, preserves local history by helping visitors experience 19th-century life in the Corning, New York area

June 2018

In celebration of its 65th anniversary, the Corning Incorporated Foundation announced sixty-five $1,000 Employee Vibrant Community Grants. Heritage Village is one of the recipients.

The Corning-Painted Post Historical Society preserves and shares the Corning, New York area's history through educational programs, exhibits, building preservation, archival collections, and experiential learning. The historical society operates the Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes, formerly the Benjamin Patterson Inn. Each year, more than 3,000 school children visit Heritage Village to experience what life was like in the early 1800s. Docents explain the daily activities in each of the buildings and conduct demonstrations. The grant will support the operation of Heritage Village.
