Corning Singapore Strides for Charity

A team of 45 representing the Corning Singapore office participated in the annual “Walk-for-Rice” Corporate Community Day that helped provide nutrition to low-income families in the South East District.

More than 500 participants from 30 companies walked the 4.3 km around the Bedok Reservoir Park that ultimately raised 22,125 bowls of rice that will be distributed by the South East Community Development Council. Sponsors donated one bowl of rice for every 100 meters trekked. The Corning team collectively walked 195 km, accounting for 1,935 bowls of rice.

The event – organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and the US Embassy – encourages American organizations and their employees, friends and families to walk together to build stronger ties for a charitable cause.

“Thank you for representing the best of America,” Charge d’Affaires Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath, U.S. Embassy, told participants.
