This general purpose surface immobilizes via passive adsorption through hydrophobic and ionic interactions and is capable of binding medium (>10kDa) and large biomolecules that possess ionic groups and/or hydrophobic regions. Binding capacity is increased to approximately 400 to 500 ng IgG/cm2, as compared to our medium binding surface, because ionic interactions require that a smaller portion of the molecule be in contact with the surface to obtain stable immobilization. The surface is ideal for enzyme immunoassays (EIAs) and radioimmunoassays (RIAs).
