Corning Optical Communications LLC, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will highlight innovation in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments at the 2012 FTTH Conference & Expo, Sept. 23-27, in Dallas.

In the environmental exhibit (booth #103), Corning will feature products designed for multidwelling units (MDUs), outside plant installations, switch centers and data centers, all designed to make FTTH deployments seamless and easy. The featured solutions include components to help maximize space, minimize installation costs and enable scalability in network designs.

In the MDU section of the exhibit, Corning Optical Communications’ new FlexNAP™ Façade and RPDpass Indoor Preconnectorized Solutions will be displayed. The FlexNAP Façade MDU Solution  makes optical fiber deployment in an outdoor riser MDU possible when traditional indoor options are unavailable. Expanding upon the existing FlexNAP technology for FTTH applications, each floor in the MDU is serviced with an OptiTip® Connector for a simple multi-fiber plug-and-play application.

The RPDpass Indoor Preconnectorized Solution offers quick connection of riser segments and drop cables. Featuring an MTP-enabled riser segment, the solution includes innovative storage capabilities in the basement or floor distribution terminals for a complete plug-and-play approach.

The exhibit will also include Corning’s Pretium EDGE® optical cabling and connectivity solutions needed to support top-of-rack designs that utilize 40G electronics. Pretium EDGE Solutions allow for up to 35 percent faster deployment; up to 25 percent faster moves, adds and changes; and up to 100 percent more density than traditional preterminated solutions.

In addition to offering the solution walkthroughs, Corning will be participating in several events at the conference:

• Corning will offer hands-on demos in its booth for two of its innovative products:   the OptiSnap® Field-installable Connector and the new FastAccess™ Technology, which can improve fiber access speed.
• On Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10:15 a.m., Kim Hartwell, senior vice president, Carrier Networks and Customer Experience, Corning Optical Communications, will moderate the Service Provider Success Stories Panel. The panel will highlight some of the most
• successful FTTH deployments across the nation and provide insight on what led to, and maintained, their success.
• On Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 5:15 p.m., Bob Whitman, vice president, Global Carrier Programs, Corning Optical Communications, will present “Consolidated Passive Optical Networks in the MDU: Design Considerations, Costs and Benefits.” Whitman will discuss the benefits of a wireless passive optical network overlay, as well as design considerations and implementation strategies.
• On Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the 1 p.m. closing session, Hartwell will also present the ninth annual FTTXcellence Award. The FTTXcellence Award, presented by Corning and Lightwave, honors an individual for his or her contributions to the deployment of optical access networks in North America.
