HICKORY, N.C. | Corning Incorporated | февраля 08, 2012

Corning Optical Communications LLC, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will highlight user-focused innovation in data center and local area network (LAN) solutions at the 2012 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Feb. 12-16.

In its interactive exhibit (booth #1101), Corning will provide hands-on demonstrations on a variety of optical fiber cabling solutions for enterprise applications, particularly customer-driven improvements to its Closet Connector Housings (CCHs). From fiber and cable routing and strain relief, to port labeling and termination, more than two dozen features built into the new CCH design help users work more quickly, while reducing the risk of error that can disrupt networks. The housings are available in sizes ranging from one rack unit (1U) to four rack units (4U). For more information on the CCH Hardware, including videos and specifications, visit http://offers.corning.com/1-CCH_Innovation/.

In addition to the new features of the CCH Hardware, Corning will showcase new enhancements to its Pretium EDGE® Solutions for data center applications that address greater design flexibility, easier installation, and an even smaller cable footprint. The enhancements include:

• Optical cabling and connectivity solutions that support Top of Rack designs using 40G electronics
• Pretium EDGE FX Solutions that include a non-sliding, fixed tray. The reduced housing depth enables small rack installations and alternative mounting options, such as back-to-back mounting and third-party floor boxes
• Pretium EDGE HD Solutions that enable ultra-high density cabling solutions for data centers. The new 1U housing has three non-tilting, sliding trays, and houses three additional modules for 144-fiber density

Enabled by Corning® ClearCurve® bend-insensitive OM3 and OM4 multimode fibers, Pretium EDGE Solutions allow for up to 35 percent faster deployment; up to 25 percent faster moves, adds and changes (MACs); and up to 100 percent more density than traditional preterminated solutions. For more information, visit http://offers.corning.com/1-EDGESolutions/.

Visitors to the exhibit will also have an opportunity to receive a hard copy of the latest LANscape® Solutions Fiber Optic Core Products List, which serves as an easy-to-use quick reference guide for new product innovations and for Corning resources, including support and training. In a free download from Corning, customers have a “self-serve” option where they can choose to download an electronic PDF or request a printed copy.

Corning will also be participating in several events at the conference:

• On Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m., Brian Rhoney, data center business development program manager for Corning Optical Communications, will present “Preparing Your Data Center Infrastructure for 40G and Beyond.” Brian will discuss 40G standards updates, fiber utilization considerations and cabling choices using 12- and 24-fiber MPO systems. The discussion will cover maximizing infrastructure density, while minimizing design complexity.
• Corning Optical Communications is a Mega Sponsor of the Cabling Skills Challenge, a BICSI event in which approximately 20 BICSI-certified installers compete in a variety of categories. Corning is supplying fusion splicers, testers and UniCam® Connectors/Tool Kits for the challenge, as well as a variety of door prizes.
