HICKORY, N.C. | Corning Incorporated | мая 09, 2011

Corning Optical Communications LLC, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will display its innovative preconnectorized fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) solutions at UTC TELECOM 2011 in Long Beach, Calif., May 10-13.

In its exhibit (booth #127), customers will get first-hand experience with the OptiTect® Compact Local Convergence Point (LCP) Housing, which can be the primary demarcation point between the feeder and distribution sections of a passive optical network, housing splitter modules and providing access to each customer. The Compact LCP provides connectivity for up to 144 subscribers in a versatile housing with multiple installation possibilities and will be displayed in an aerial application.

Corning Optical Communications’ exhibit will also feature the OptiSheath® Splitter MultiPort Terminal, which is designed for use in outside plant access networks. This innovative terminal provides fast, easy subscriber connections and splitter functionality in one low-profile housing. By enabling incremental subscriber connections, costs are deferred to better match revenue streams. Splitter functionality reduces the distribution cable fiber count requirement, lowering initial cost. The terminal’s reliability and flexibility make it an ideal choice for network access point terminals in all-fiber access networks and FTTx deployments.

Two variations of Corning’s preconnectorized OptiSheath UltraNAP™ Terminals will show the flexibility and versatility now possible in network deployments. Their fiber routing scheme enables an innovative combination of multi-fiber terminal connections with single-fiber drop cable connections. This provides increased deployment speed, reduced initial installation cost and cost deferment possibilities.

The innovative exhibit will also include the following:

• The FlexNAP™ Terminal Distribution System consists of standard fiber optic cables upon which network access points are preterminated at customer-specified locations along the length of the cable. This field-proven, cutting-edge solution can reduce installation time by more than 50 percent in the distribution segment of access networks.

• The OptiTect Local Convergence Cabinet, LS Series has everything necessary to manage up to 864 fibers for an outside plant FTTH application. Available in five fiber counts, all cabinets share the same industry-leading, intuitive and efficient cable routing and splitter storage, providing the optimal balance between size, density and access.
• The OptiWay® NG Series Network Interface Device (NID) is the next-generation in all-plastic enclosures specifically designed to house electronic circuits for the growing FTTH and broadband access markets. This state-of-the-art NID is designed to either replace or supplement existing fiber or standard copper NIDs.
