HICKORY, N.C. | Corning Incorporated | мая 05, 2011

Corning Optical Communications LLC, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will feature its innovative data center and local area network (LAN) solutions at Interop® Las Vegas, May 8-12, 2011.

In its interactive exhibit (booth #2165), Corning Optical Communications will display its Pretium EDGE™ Solutions for data center applications. Designed and developed with extensive end-user input, Pretium EDGE Solutions address the needs of ease-of-use, scalability, termination density and technology future-proofing, while offering excellent total cost of ownership. Enabled by Corning® ClearCurve® bend-insensitive 50/125 µm multimode fiber, Pretium EDGE Solutions allow for up to 35 percent faster deployment; enable up to 25 percent faster moves, adds and changes (MACs); and offer up to 100 percent more density than traditional preterminated solutions. Corning's Plug & Play™ Universal Systems for data centers will also be on display side-by-side with Pretium EDGE Solutions.

Corning will also be displaying the Pretium EDGE Reverse Polarity Uniboot, an LC connector that provides quick and easy polarity management in the field with no tooling requirements. The Reverse Polarity Uniboot’s clamshell design avoids exposing fibers during the polarity flip. In addition, the connector has a color-coded visual reference for quick recognition of when a fiber has been reversed. Finally, the connector features a removable trigger design that allows for ten different colored triggers that can be used for segmenting network fabrics.

Visitors to the exhibit will also have an opportunity to try Corning Optical Communications' latest on-demand tools for LAN design and deployment, including the LANscape® Solutions Bill of Materials (BOM) Tool. A free download from Corning, the BOM tool allows customers to quickly and easily select the products they need for LAN cabling systems, create a detailed bill of materials with part numbers, and save or email the document from their own computer.

The exhibit will also include demonstrations of the following LANscape Solutions products:

  • High performance UniCam® Connectors, which offer an industry-leading optical performance in a fast, easy field-termination solution.
  • Plug & Play Universal Systems Integrated Trunk Module (ITM), a factory-terminated MTP® trunk in a single-wide Plug & Play Universal Systems module, available in 40, 80, 120, 160 and 200 ft options, and simple to deploy and redeploy.
  • Plug & Play™ AnyLAN™ Systems for indoor and outdoor applications, featuring a multimode or single-mode optical fiber cable pre-installed with network access points at customer-specified intervals and a tethered, environmentally hardened MT connector. Once distance measurements for network access point locations are obtained, the preterminated system is manufactured and tested. The entire system is then packed and shipped to the customer on a cable reel for immediate deployment in the desired indoor or outdoor application.
