CORNING, N.Y. | Corning Incorporated | Январь 02, 2015

Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4, Optical Cables by Corning, and much more on display

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced its plans for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, beginning Tuesday. With glass poised to become the quintessential material for unlocking new capabilities and applications, Corning will showcase the critical role that glass plays in consumer electronic devices and beyond.

At the Corning booth – number 12847, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center – the company will feature:

  • Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4: Broken screens due to device drops are a common problem for consumers. Gorilla Glass 4 performs up to two times better than competitive glass designs when dropped from 1 meter in laboratory tests.
  • Optical Cables by Corning: The first all-optical fiber cables for the Thunderbolt™ and USB 3.0 communities. These cables are fast, thin, light, and remarkably tough, making them ideal for entertainment (audio, video, editing, and photography), healthcare, and education environments. Be on the lookout for a special Optical Cables by Corning contest, coming soon.
  • Corning® Fibrance™ Light-Diffusing Fiber: A glass optical fiber made for thin, colorful, aesthetic lighting, Fibrance enables decorative lighting to be designed or embedded into tight or small places where other bulky lighting elements cannot fit.

“Innovation is at the heart of Corning’s culture,” said Wendell P. Weeks, chairman, chief executive officer, and president. “We are constantly looking for ways to reimagine glass to help inspire the development of more advanced technologies. At CES, we will showcase the critical role that glass plays in making consumer devices that allow people to stay connected on the go, while offering the latest in aesthetics and design.”
