Sponsors ongoing research and protection of highly endangered species that inspired Corning® Gorilla® Glass marketing campaign.

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today a $25,000 cash donation to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, becoming an official sponsor for the second consecutive year. Corning’s donation will support the organization’s ongoing efforts to monitor and protect gorillas and their habitats in Africa.

“Corning is proud to support the Fossey Fund and the majestic animals that inspired our Corning® Gorilla® Glass marketing campaign,” said Daniel F. Collins, vice president of Corporate Communications. “As an organization dedicated to research and data collection, the Fossey Fund naturally aligns with Corning’s values. Their outstanding work makes a significant impact in gorilla conservation.”

Founded in 1978, the Fossey Fund’s  rescue, rehabilitation, tracking, and anti-poaching patrol initiatives help ensure the survival of this highly endangered species. The Fossey Fund also collaborates with other international organizations to promote research and provide educational programs on gorillas.

"We are delighted that Corning has chosen to continue their sponsorship of our efforts to protect endangered gorillas and their critically important habitats in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo," said Clare Richardson, president and chief executive officer of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. "Corning's contribution will help us fight poaching, carry out important research that guides conservation planning, and encourage the people who live near the gorillas to continue their partnerships with us. When a major corporation like Corning shows sustained support for our conservation programs, they inspire others to do the same. Supporters like Corning make it possible for us to make a real difference for the gorillas and for the planet."

Continuing a more than 160-year tradition of innovation in materials science and glass technology, Corning Gorilla Glass is an environmentally friendly cover glass. Its exceptional damage resistance helps protect smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs from everyday wear and tear. Corning Gorilla Glass is featured on more than 33 major brands, 750 product models, and 750 million devices.
