Course Description: 

Representative Representation: Fostering Diversify and Inclusion in the Legal Profession:
This program discusses implicit bias, stereotyping and discrimination, explains the manifestations of bias, and explores ways to recognize and incorporate language and other means to promote an inclusive legal and professional environment both inside the organization and in dealing with other organizations, courts, agencies and third parties.

Ethics and Internal Investigations:
This program examines ethical issues in the in-house context, with an emphasis on the special ethical issues arising from internal investigations.

Registration Information: 
All participants must be registered for the program.  Seating is limited and registration is required.  Registration for the program closes on Thursday, October 4, 2018.  To register call 607.974.0665 or 828.901.6775, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

CLE Information:
North Carolina participants are invited to join by live fully-interactive audio and visual simulcast teleconference accompanied with Outlook Online Meeting in a classroom setting.  Accreditation for 1.5 CLE credit hours will be applied for through the NC State Bar Continuing Legal Education Board.  Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet.  There must always be more than one (1) attorney attending the Hickory classroom presentation.

New York participants are invited to join this live presentation, located at Corning, NY, in a classroom setting.  This course is appropriate for both newly-admitted and experienced New York attorneys and has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.5 credits.  Accreditation for 1.0 credit hours will be applied to the “Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias” requirement and 0.5 hours will be applied to the Ethics requirement.  CLE credit provided by Nixon Peabody. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet.

Utah participant iis invited to join by live fully-interactive audio and visual simulcast teleconference presentation, accompanied with Outlook Lync Online Meeting in a classroom setting.  This course is appropriate for experienced New York attorneys and has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.5 CLE credits.  Accreditation for 1.0 credit hours will be applied to the “Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias” requirement and 0.5 hours will be applied to the Ethics requirement.  CLE credit provided by Nixon Peabody. Attendance is confirmed both visually and by sign-in/sign-out sheet.

Throughout the entire course, NC, UT, and NY attendees will be able to (1) participate in live interactive discussions, (2) visually see each other in their respective conference room, and (3) view the live PowerPoint presentation as presented by Kimberly Harding, Meghan McGuire, and Rick McGuirk from the law firm of Nixon Peabody, LLP.  Each conference room location will have a sign-in/sign-out sheet and evaluation forms.  The evaluation forms must be completed at the end of the course prior to departing the classroom and submitted to the CLE coordinator.

There is no fee for this course.

NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM DURING THE PROGRAM PRESENTATION.
