Statement on Corning's Withdrawal from the IECA
Re-affirms its commitment to reducing harmful greenhouse gases
Corning Incorporated is committed to protecting the environment and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions which are a significant contributor to global warming. We believe that the Paris Climate Agreement, signed by representatives of 195 nations is a critically important action to manage global greenhouse glass emissions.
We do not agree, nor do we support, the actions of the Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA) encouraging the U.S. withdrawal from this agreement. We have valued IECA’s past work on a number of critical manufacturing issues; we believe that IECA’s action on this matter is so contrary to our company’s position that we can no longer remain a member of this organization. Therefore we are withdrawing our membership in IECA effective immediately.
As a company, we are proud to have been a critical player in the global fight for cleaner air for almost 45 years. We remain committed to developing market-leading emissions control solutions that help our customers meet new emission standards and enable cleaner air worldwide.
