Samsung S8 Noted for its Stunning Infinity Display

Samsung recently released their new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and S8+, featuring Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 on both front and back of the phone.  The new devices are receiving wide coverage for the infinity display, touting an 83% display-to-body ratio with a nearly bezel-less display protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

AnandTech reports on the launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy handsets, noting both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus come with aluminum frames “sandwiched between edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 5,” with the phones also both having “curved sides on the front and back.” AnandTech notes that the curved rear glass makes holding the phone more comfortable, “while the curved front glass—now standard on both S8 models—adds some visual flair.” MobileSyrup also highlighted that the “entire outer casing is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5,” adding that the phone also has a water- and dust-resistant IP68 rating.

Android Central reports the rear of the phone is “covered with strong Gorilla Glass rather than brushed or matte aluminum,” similar to the Galaxy S7. Android Central notes there is a design edge to the new phones as the “matte black version has color-matched metal on the sides to follow the contours of the black rear and front glass, providing an unbroken pool of gorgeous darkness.”

TechRadar reports, the S8’s “bezel-less design and immersive screen to body ratio” is “protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.” While IndiaToday highlights Gorilla Glass 5 as one of the S8’s special features stating, “both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ still boast a glass and metal body, but unlike their predecessor phones, Samsung's 2017 flagships have near bezel-less screens. These have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front as well as on the back.”

ZDNet reports on “The Eight reasons the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are good for business”, highlighting Gorilla Glass 5 as “the latest glass technology from Corning is Gorilla Glass 5, and it is found on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. This glass solution is designed to survive typical drops, so the use of two glass panels may not be as big of a concern as you might think.”

Forbes discusses the differences between the Samsung S8 and S7, noting the “massive display takes up 83% of the front of the phone” and that it is “indeed better”. The article later notes that the Galaxy S8 is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 which “survives falls better than Gorilla Glass 4.”
