Corning Celebrates Award in Energy Management

Company secures fourth consecutive ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year win

In celebration of Corning Incorporated’s ongoing dedication to energy management, representatives from Corning’s Global Energy Management (GEM) team attended the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® awards ceremony held April 26 in Washington, D.C.

“Being handed the physical award is an extreme honor, but that isn’t why we attend such ENERGY STAR events,” said Patrick Jackson, director of GEM. “It’s about collaborating and sharing ideas with other world leaders in energy management. Communication is the cornerstone of success, and sharing such best practices can help make our world a better and cleaner place.”

GEM marks its 11th year in 2017, and celebrates its fourth consecutive Partner of the Year award on behalf Corning. This year’s award earned a Sustained Excellence designation, given to companies making significant strides in energy management, and achieving Partner of the Year status several years in a row.

“For more than 10 years, GEM has been an asset to Corning’s bottom line, and our commitment to being good corporate citizens,” said Michael Donnelly, vice president, Corning Business Services. “As the program advances, the hard work and dedication from the GEM team never wavers. Securing a fourth Partner of the Year award with a second Sustained Excellence win demonstrates that Corning is truly committed to attaining higher goals in energy savings. I couldn’t be more proud of these continued successes.”

Since 2006, GEM teams in each of Corning’s manufacturing facilities around the world have increased energy efficiency by more than 30 percent, saving Corning $454 million in energy spending.
