SunSensors® post-marketing sampling program

Corning Ophthalmic today announced the creation of a post-marketing sampling program aimed at ensuring SunSensors® lens origin worldwide.

Since the launch of its SunSensors® photochromic monomer production, Corning  has always  sought to ensure the highest level of quality and consistency of lenses made from the SunSensors® monomer.

Today, Corning is beginning another effort to enhance its photochromic brand and to make sure that the global reputation of SunSensors® lenses will not result in the brand becoming generic anywhere. Starting in October 2010, Corning intends to conduct an international post-marketing sampling program, which will be repeated every year.

This program has two major objectives:

-  To check worldwide the SunSensors® photochromic lens quality and consistency

-  To validate the use of genuine SunSensors® monomer in lenses bearing the SunSensors® brand

Samples will be purchased on the open market around the globe and sent to Corning’s ophthalmic laboratories for quality assurance testing and “reverse-engineering” analysis.

With the results of such testing, and in full collaboration with its direct customers, Corning can take  appropriate actions to protect  SunSensors® brand’s reputation for quality.
