State of the Union Address
January 25, 2011
Corning Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks will be among the honored guests at President Barack Obama's State of the Union address tonight. Weeks will sit with First Lady Michelle Obama and other guests who will represent some of the messages the President will likely emphasize during his annual speech to the nation.
A CNN source this morning said that the President will lay out a plan to strengthen the United States' ability to compete in an ever-globalized economy, with specific focus on innovation and education. Read the full story here.
The speech begins at 9 p.m. Eastern time tonight (Tuesday) - most networks will televise it live.
Weeks is one of only two American business leaders to sit in the First Lady's box. The other is Xerox CEO Ursula Burns. Other guests include several small-business owners and entrepreneurs, military veterans, enterprising students, and people connected to the January 8 shootings in Tucson, Arizona.
