Ultraflat bottoms on these
Corning 384 well microplates
are ideal for confocal
imaging systems

Corning® Optical Imaging 384 Well Black Clear Bottom Microplates

For whole cell or subcellular high content screening to be successful, more sensitive optical imaging methods are required. Image analyzers using confocal imaging can now provide sharp resolution of cells and cellular components but require microplates with uniform, ultra flat bottoms to achieve high throughput by minimizing refocusing from well to well. The new Corning® Optical Imaging 384 Well Black Clear Bottom Microplates (Catalog # 3985) meet these extremely flat and uniform well bottom requirements. They also have the same tissue culture treated surface that is used on all Corning cell culture microplates for improved cell attachment and growth.

Focused on performance:

  • Ultra flat bottom is optimized for rapid, automatic focusing on new confocal imagers, such as the Amersham® InCell™ 3000 analyzer.
  • Optically clear, tissue culture treated polystyrene bottom provides better cell attachment and growth than glass bottom microplates.
  • A much more economical solution than glass bottom microplates but with superior overall performance and lower lot-to-lot variability.
  • Black polystyrene base reduces well-to-well crosstalk and background for fluorescent assays.
