Corning Reduces Media Spills and Contamination with New
500 cm2 Square DW Spillguard Cell Culture Dish

Novel guard provides security and convenience for large scale cell culture

Acton, Massachusetts, March 2004 - Addressing the need to provide security and convenience for large scale cell culture, Corning Life Sciences now offers the Corning® 500 cm2 Square DW Spillguard Cell Culture Dish.

The Corning 500 cm2 Square DW Spillguard Cell Culture Dish is ideal for culturing large numbers of anchorage dependent cells. The spillguard is a market first and protects against media spills and contamination during handling and transport to the incubator. The spillguard is a multilayer film which meets USP Class VI requirements for plastic containers and closures. The durable film covers the top of the dish and has a six inch opening to access cells and it can also be easily removed for harvesting cells.

Currently, Corning treated cell culture dishes are available in 35, 60, 100 and 150 mm diameter styles and 245 mm square style. The spillguard is only available on the 245 mm cell culture dish. The 500 cm2 surface area is greater than six 75 cm2 flasks. Due to its large size, 5 x 107to 1 x 108 cells can be cultured in a single dish.
