Improved well design provides 20-50% more surface area for cell growth
Acton, Massachusetts, February 2005 - Addressing the need to provide higher assay throughput for in vitro drug absorption and permeability studies, Corning Life Sciences now offers the HTS Transwell®-96 System that enables four times greater throughput than 24 well systems. The system is ideal for drug absorption assays using Caco-2 cells and excretion assays using MDCK cells as well as other applications.
The design of the HTS Transwell®-96 System has 0.16 cm2 membrane area per well, providing 20 to 50 percent more surface area for cell growth than other commercially available 96 well systems. The increased surface area enables more robust results. The system has large access ports for efficient media sampling and exchanges during automated or manual processing.
The HTS Transwell®-96 System is sold as a complete system including the Transwell®-96 permeable support microplate, reservoir (feeder) plate, receiver plate and two lids. The system is available with either a polycarbonate or polyester (PET) membrane. The feeder reservoir is designed with a media stabilizer to reduce wicking during transport. The receiver plate is designed for performing the assay and may also be used for feeding. The receiver and reservoir plates are also available as separate components. The system is bar code compatible and special packaging and configurations are available.
