Corning Announces Commercial Agreement with HighRes Biosolutions

Companies to Cooperate on Next-Generation Medium- to High- Throughput Systems

LOWELL, M.A., September 4, 2008 - Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW), a global supplier of scientific laboratory and drug discovery products for more than 90 years, today announced the signing of a commercial agreement with HighRes Biosolutions Inc. of Woburn, Mass. to develop innovative consumables to meet the needs of medium-to high-throughput screening customers. HighRes Biosolutions is a leading manufacturer of high-end automation for high-throughput screening (HTS). Under the terms of the agreement, a newly developed, next generation consumable will be manufactured and sold exclusively through Corning, but co-marketed by both companies. This innovative product is expected to be available the first quarter of 2009.

"Whether it be through our own R&D investments or cooperation with industry leaders such as HighRes, we continuously strive to provide our customers with leading-edge technologies that will advance their research and laboratory results," said Robb D'Amore, business director, Corning Life Sciences. "This agreement enables Corning and HighRes to leverage their relative strengths in the HTS market and deliver unique, next-generation medium-to high- throughput solutions. We are excited for the first product to be available to our HTS customers in early 2009."

"Teaming up with an industry giant like Corning is a great opportunity for us," said Lou Guarracina, CEO, HighRes Biosolutions. "Coupled with our existing relationships in the HTS market, Corning's industry know-how and extensive distribution network should open up an entirely new customer base."
