Mission: Possible Terms and Conditions


Corning Mission Possible is an international award program open to life sciences researchers all over the world. The program awards product grants to research laboratories for successful application improvement including one of following Corning products: 3907, 431134, 431329, 431344, 3289, 3290, 3291, 3073, 3292, 3293, 3298, 431328, 431346, 10010, 10024, 3068, 3067, 3330, 3310, 3311, 3312, 3320, 3321, 3294, 3295, 3296, 3335, 3336, 3337, 3338, 3300, 3340, 3683, 3302, 3304, 7055, 3815, 3814, 3261, 3262, 3471, 3473, 3474, 7007, 3303, 3870XX1, 3871XX1, 3872XX1, 3873XX1. Click here for full product information and details of how to order.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • It is open to research in the following fields:
    • Cellular neurobiology
    • Immunology
    • Stem Cells: Adult or Embryonic
    • Primary Cells
    • Cancer Cells
    • Cellular Mechanisms of Diseases
  • Experiments needs to include the use of one or more Corning innovative products and should demonstrate its benefit for the application.
  • Submitted research must not be previously published in any Corning Application Note.
  • Multiple submissions of different experiments can be made by the same researcher.
  • Registration and acceptance of the terms and conditions is required.
  • Corning employees and their relatives are not eligible to join the program.

Registration Procedure

  • Registration is now closed. All those who registered now have until May 31, 2009 to submit their results! See below for submission details.

Submission of Data

  • This program is now closed.
  • By submitting research data the terms and conditions of this award program are accepted by the applicant.
  • All submissions require full contact details including last name, surname, email address, phone number, organization name, department and address.
  • The entry should be in the form of a brief summary (MSword or pdf format) of the research conducted and contain
    • an introduction to the subject of the research (max 400 words),
    • material and methods (max 500 words),
    • a results and discussion section (max 500 words)
    • conclusion (max 200 words).
  • When submitted, all requisite approvals to publish the submission and use the logo of your organization in connection with such publication is assumed.
    A logo of the organization may be submitted. When submitted legal approval to publish is assumed.
  • Data needs to be submitted electronically via email either in one email or in case of email size limitation in clearly related emails
  • The deadline for registrants to submit their data has been extended until May 31, 2009. No data submitted after this deadline will be accepted.

Deadlines and important dates 

  • Registration opens: August 1, 2008
  • Registration deadline: April 30, 2009
  • Submission deadline: May 31, 2009
  • Award winner annunciation: June 30, 2009

Voting

  • Submitted applications will be reviewed by a panel of eight Corning scientists and industry experts. The number of panelists is subject to change depending upon the amount of submissions.
  • Panel members will rate applications independently from each other.
  • The panellists will rank the submissions regarding the significance of the application improvement that was achieved by the usage of a Corning innovative product. All decisions are final.
  • In case of equal results for two or more submissions, the decision is made by run-off vote.
  • Voting results and procedure are not public.

Grant Awards

  • The awards are:
    1st prize $US 25,000 1 winner
    2nd prize $US 10,000 2 winners
    3rd prize $US 5,000 7 winners
    Honorable mentions $US 2,000 10 winners
  • Award winners will be informed by email or letter.
  • Awards are only provided in Corning Products. No cash payout or product return is allowed. The winners will be allowed to select their choice of product awards according to local availability of standard Corning Life Sciences catalog products. The products HYPERFlask® and Ultra-Web™ are limited to one third of the value of each award.
  • The value of the award is based on local list prices in US $ or converted into local currency.
  • Prizes expire at December 31st, 2009 and need to be ordered before end of 2009.
  • The product grant will be awarded to and owned by the research laboratory and will not personally be owned by the researcher who submitted the research.

General Terms and Conditions

  • The applicant grants to Corning a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual right and license to to use and duplicate any submitted data for any purpose, including public dissemination. This right includes the use any submitted data for the development of Corning application notes.
  • The applicant retains all intellectual property rights in the submitted data subject to the license granted to Corning noted above.
  • The applicant acknowledges that his or her name and affiliated organisation may be published in any Corning document created that contains or was derived from any submitted data.
  • By submitting any data to Corning, you agree that you and your organization will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless from any and all claims, losses, and damages (including attorneys’ fees and costs of litigation) that may be suffered or incurred by Corning as a result of an assertion that the submitted data infringes or otherwise violates any party’s intellectual property right.
  • Corning has the right to change any part of the award program, including deadlines, and has the right to do so with or without actively informing applicants.
  • Shipment and taxes for awarded products are not included. In some parts of the world, shipment fees may be included.
  • Offer void where prohibited by government or company policy or local law.
