Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) today announces that its Pretium EDGE® Advanced Optics (AO) structured remove cabling solution recently received the Datacentre Cabling Product of the Year at the Datacentre Solutions Awards 2014 in London.
Pretium EDGE® AO Solutions is a comprehensive suite of advanced optical components that enable the next level of performance in data centres or storage area networks. From network monitoring to migration to parallel optics, this advanced optical technology integrates directly into the Pretium EDGE Solutions cabling system for maximum efficiency and return on investment.
The award category included a range of leading data centre cabling technologies. Products were evaluated on their ability to demonstrate competitive advantage and a clear return on investment for users. The awards were announced on May 15.
“The Datacentre Solutions Awards recognise the product designers, manufacturers, suppliers and providers operating in the data centre field and are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications,” said Jason Holloway, Director of IT Publishing, Angel Business Communications, organisers of the DCS Awards. “All finalists did well in making the shortlist, but Corning Optical Communications was the clear winner in its category, Datacentre Cabling Product of the Year.”
“To win this award based on a public vote demonstrates our commitment to providing unique and innovative solutions that address the daily needs of the user. Moreover, it is indicative of the mutually beneficial long-term relationships we form with our customers and channels,” said Tony Robinson RCDD CDCDP, EMEA Data Centre Marketing Manager for Corning Optical Communications.
“Our Pretium EDGE solution delivers many benefits including high performance, rapid and flexible installation and unequalled rack density. It also offers cost-effective and non-disruptive migration to 40Gbit/sec and 100Gbit/sec while maintaining 100% fibre utilisation, as well as support for up to 108 ports for higher speed parallel optics in a 1U housing, thereby addressing important space, capacity and scalability challenges.”
