Corning is already at work on new compositions with even higher strain points
and temperature tolerances. In addition, Jade will help enable emerging display
technologies such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). As current-driven
devices, OLEDs require the improved electron mobility of p-Si based TFTs to
carry the required current load. The benefits of Jade as a polysilicon
backplane can provide that foundation, allowing OLEDs to take full advantage of
the technology.
Customers can further optimize OLED performance by using Jade in conjunction
with Corning's Vita™ hermetic sealing solution for OLEDs, which increases
the lifetime of OLED displays. With Jade and Vita, Corning has solved two of
the major issues facing the OLED industry-backplane performance and lifetime.
